Travel east from Cappadocia on a three-day journey to Mount Nemrut, Şanlıurfa and Harran, where the prophet Abraham is said to have spent several years. Along the way, experience a Seljuk caravanserai, the monumental statues of Mount Nemrut, Commagene sites, sacred places in Şanlıurfa, Harran’s beehive houses, Göbeklitepe and the rare bald ibis.
Day 1 — Cappadocia to Mount Nemrut
Depart Cappadocia in the morning and travel via Kayseri to Pınarbaşı for a short tea break, then continue to Tekir for lunch and photographs of the beautiful Tekir Valley. Drive onward to Kahta for a tea break before transferring to the hotel for an overnight stay in the Mount Nemrut area.

Day 2 — Mount Nemrut, Şanlıurfa and Harran
Depart very early for the Mount Nemrut ruins. After leaving the minibus, walk uphill for approximately 25 minutes to the summit. Watch the sunrise among the colossal statues and heads of kings and gods, then enjoy time to walk around and take photographs.
Return to the hotel for breakfast before driving toward Kahta. Along the way, visit the ruins of Arsemia, the Roman Cendere Bridge and Karakus Tumulus. After a tea break in Kahta, travel toward Şanlıurfa and Harran, stopping at Atatürk Dam, described on the current page as the biggest dam in the Middle East.
Check in to the hotel in Şanlıurfa. After lunch, visit Abraham’s Cave and the Pools of Holy Carp. Continue to Harran, known for its mud-brick beehive houses and mentioned in Genesis as a place where Abraham spent the final years of his life. Visit Harran’s city walls, its ancient Islamic university and its castle, dated on the current page to the 18th century.
Continue to Göbeklitepe, described on the current page as the oldest temple excavated in the world so far and also considered a possible site of the Garden of Eden. After sunset, return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Şanlıurfa.

Day 3 — Şanlıurfa to Göreme
Walk through the oriental covered bazaar in Şanlıurfa, have lunch and continue toward the Taurus Mountains. After a tea break, return to Göreme.
